Pelo Camp Description
Situated close to the pan handle of the Okavango Delta on the Jao Concession, Pelo Camp is set in one of the most spectacular areas of Botswana. Pelo Camp is a small intimate camp with just five meru style safari tents. Each tent has en-suite facilities with flush toilets and a traditional bucket shower. Each room has a ceiling fan. The camp runs on 100% solar power and there are places to charge camera batteries.
Pelo Camp has a traditional boma for dinners under the stars and the guest areas look out over the delta and are a fantastic sundowner spot! The main area is under tent, with the dining and lounge areas nestled under impressive wild date palms, jackalberry and Natal mahogany trees.
Pelo Camp Game Viewing and Wildlife Activities
Traditional mokoro rides are the star at Pelo Camp. Guides expertly pole guests over shallow flood plains and narrow waterways. There is also a motorised boat tour that will take guests further out on the main waterways of the Okavango Delta. Fishing is permitted on a catch and release basis. This is also a fantastic birding paradise with many local and migratory birds to be seen.
This is one of the most spectacular areas of the Okavango Delta with shallow floodplains, hidden lagoons and quiet waterways dotted with small riverine forested and palm islands waiting to be explored. This is a remote Okavango water camp; wildlife to be seen include elephant, hippo, lechwe, reed buck, sitatunga and crocodiles, to name a few. Spectacular birding, with some 450 species recorded.
