Kwara Camp Description
Kwara Camp is set in a secluded lagoon in the northern part of the Okavango Delta, offering a contrasting experience as it is on a permanent waterway but close to expansive dry land. Kwara Camp offers the best of water and land game viewing. There are eight traditional tents on raised decks, each with superb views of the lagoon. Set under towering African Ebony and mangosteen trees, Kwara Camp is kept cool during the day. This is a bird watchers paradise as the birds love the surrounding trees and lagoon.
Each tent has its own viewing deck, private en-suite facilities including hot and cold running showers, flush toilets and modern amenities. Kwara also boast a honeymoon suite with its own special bathroom with an antique slipper bath with the traditional ball and claw feet. There is a sparkling pool that also overlooks the lagoon, ensuring you will always be able to watch the ever changing landscape. The lounge and dining areas overlook the outdoor fire sitting area, open to the stars.
Kwara Camp Game Viewing and Wildlife Activities
The area offers diverse animal and plant life all year round; however the emphasis at Kwara is on water activities. The Kwara area is home to a variety of wild animals including, lechwe, sitatunga, reedbuck, bushbuck, hippo, crocodiles, elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and tsessebe. Lion, hyena, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are abundant in this part of the Delta and regularly seen. Guests will visit the famous Godikwe lagoon, where you can see thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds. Other species you can encounter through the channels and rivers are kingfishers, pygmy geese, fish eagles, jacanas, darters and if you’re really fortunate, the elusive Pels Fishing Owl.
Kwara Camp offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a diverse wildlife experience all year-round with the emphasis on water activities. Kwara Camp offers permanent water all year round. Kwara is the nearest camp to the famous Godikwe lagoon in the Moremi Game Reserve where guests can enjoy close up viewing of thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds. Activities include mokoro excursions, (dug-out canoes), boat cruises, fishing, guided bush walks as well as morning and evening game drives.
