Gunns Camp Description
Bordering the Moremi Game Reserve and overlooking Chief’s Island, Gunns Camp is nestled under African Ebony trees and leafy trees. This deluxe Meru styled tented camp has six tents. Each tent has en-suite bathrooms and outside showers. They are set on raised decks which create a private viewing area overlooking the delta floodplain. Each tent is traditionally furnished and has a private lounge area as well.
Connected to the main camp by way of raised walk ways, guests can enjoy the bar, lounge and dining room which all overlook the Delta. A campfire brings guests together in the evening and a swimming pool is there to cool off in on a hot afternoon.
Gunns Camp Game Viewing and Wildlife Activities
The Okavango Delta is one of the world’s greatest deltas and the largest delta to run away from the ocean and into the heart of a continent. It is home to an unequalled prosperity and diversity of African wildlife and, with over 450 bird species, is one of the most beautiful places in Africa.
At Gunn’s Camp activities focus on the Delta: the habitat, its inhabitants and how this part of Africa differs from anywhere else. Experience the magic of this most precious of resources on mokoro excursions, guided walks and sunset motor boat excursions. Although big game may be seen it’s the opportunity to get closer to smaller creatures whilst gliding silently down the Boro Channel and between the palm islands in a mokoro that is so very special.
Whilst out on nature walks your guide will point out plants and roots which are utilized by local communities in a number of ways: for food, medicines and fish traps. The low key pace of these activities and the lack of a formalized vehicle structure is the perfect way to experience true wilderness first-hand – a rare commodity in this day and age.
