Chobe Savanna Lodge Camp Description
Chobe Savanna Lodge is relaxed and informal, set in a classic African Savanna environment with sweeping vistas surrounding the lodge. The focal point of the lodge is a thatched open sided main building which commands a 270 degree view over the Chobe River and beyond to the Chobe National Park. There are ten beautiful thatched chalets. Each of the African inspired chalets have a private deck offering uninterrupted views across the Chobe River. Each chalet at Chobe Savanna Lodge has a lounge, en-suite facilities, mini bar and are air-conditioned.
Located in the main building is the lounge, dining room and bar areas furnished with African inspired furniture in dark teak woods, perfectly in tune with the environment. Set in an attractive garden the swimming pool provides relief from the heat of a summer’s afternoon. There is a gazebo that is ideal for small group lunches and an open boma area (place of eating), on the banks of the Chobe River, where guests are treated to panoramic views and traditional dancing performed by local villagers.

Situated in the Eastern Caprivi of Namibia, on a peninsula on the northern bank of the Chobe River, Chobe Savanna Lodge overlooks the vast floodplains of the Chobe National Park’s Puku Flats. The lodge offers discerning guests a hideaway for those looking for an exclusive Chobe River experience. The area is renowned for its diverse and prolific wildlife, including the rare puku antelope. It is home to large herds of elephant, buffalo and hippo, as well as concentrations of other wildlife, including giraffe, sable, wild dog, lion and other predators, that come down to the river’s edge to drink, graze and hunt. This area is an untouched water wilderness sanctuary, ideal for quiet discovery, where game and bird life flourish undisturbed under the protection of the Chobe National Park.
Those who wish to explore the Chobe River will not be disappointed. All activities are conducted by resident professional guides, whose intimate knowledge will make for an unforgettable experience. Guests have a choice of boat excursions in small manoeuvrable boats, ideal for close up encounters with wildlife along the river’s edge or cultural village visits. Depending on the time of year, guests are also offered the opportunity to take canoe excursions along the river. Game viewing by boat as well as sunset cruises on the Chobe River. Nature walks and guided canoeing along the river as well as a cultural excursion to one of the surrounding local communities. Here guests can observe the deep-rooted traditional life styles of the people. Fishing excursions (Catch & Release) are on offer and suitable tackle is available.
