Camp Description
- The eight luxury safari-style tents are built on raised decks.
- Each tent has its own viewing deck, private en-suite facilities including hot and cold running showers, flush toilets and modern amenities.
- Kwara also boast a honeymoon suite with its own special bathroom with an antique slipper bath with the traditional ball and claw feet.
Game Viewing
The area offers diverse animal and plant life all year round; however the emphasis at Kwara is on water activities. The Kwara area is home to a variety of wild animals including, lechwe, sitatunga, reedbuck, bushbuck, hippo, crocodiles, elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and tsessebe. Lion, hyena, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are abundant in this part of the Delta and regularly seen. Guests will visit the famous Godikwe lagoon, where you can see thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds. Other species you can encounter through the channels and rivers are kingfishers, pygmy geese, fish eagles, jacanas, darters and if you're really fortunate, the elusive Pels Fishing Owl.
Wildlife Activities
Kwara Camp offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a diverse wildlife experience all year-round with the emphasis on water activities. Kwara Camp offers permanent water all year round. Kwara is the nearest camp to the famous Godikwe lagoon in the Moremi Game Reserve where guests can enjoy close up viewing of thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds. Activities include mokoro excursions, (dug-out canoes), boat cruises, fishing, guided bush walks as well as morning and evening game drives.
How to Get there
ExpertBotswana can arrange flights to Botswana from Johannesburg or Cape Town into Maun or Kasane, where most safaris start and end. Transfers from Maun/Kasane are done by light aircraft into the camps Inter-camp transfers are done by light aircraft, road, boat or mekoro.
Child Policy
Children between 8 - 12 years old are welcomed at full rate, all year round but must book a private vehicle or use the family safaris guides. Younger children are accepted with exclusive camp bookings. This service is subject to availability at the time of booking.
Electricity
- The camps do not have mains electricity.
- General lighting is therefore from paraffin oil lamps.
- However each tent is provided with a battery powered reading lamp in the evening.
- There is a flashlight provided for each tent.
Malaria
Malaria is found in the central, western and northern areas of Botswana.
