Camp Description
- The main dining area is on an elevated wooden deck between two magnificent sycamore fig trees and surrounded by dense wild date palms.
- Bar and lounge with an area for an open fire under the stars.
- Plunge pool allows guests to cool off from the heat of the day.
- Gazebo with hammocks.
- 5 Meru-style tents on raised decks sleeping a total of 10 guests.
- 1 Honeymoon tent.
- En-suite facilities with outdoor showers.
- Each room has a veranda with a spectacular vista over the floodplains.
Game Viewing
The camp is set in the most densely populated wetland area for Sitatunga antelope and Red Lechwe. Hippos and crocodiles are regularly sited. In the dry season lechwe, tsessebe, elephant, wildebeest and zebra occur here, and lions, cheetah and leopard are often sited on the floodplains. This is an area of prime importance for a host of wetland bird species, including Wattled Cranes, Pel's Fishing Owls, both species of Jacanas as well as other seldom sighted species such as Rails, Crakes and Moorhens.
Wildlife Activities
Jacana Camp is a truly water-oriented camp and offers mokoro and walking safaris all year round. Game drives are also on offer year round but night drives are only possible from about September to May as water levels restrict this activity when the flood is in. Lechwe, Hippo, Reedbuck, Crocodile, Sitagunga are often seen on water activities. Elephants are common when the fan palm fruit is ripe in late July onwards. Plains game is good on summer game drives and birding is excellent.

- Land game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers lead by an experienced guide.
- A raised hide located about 40 minutes from camp (which can be used for sleep outs - maximum 4 people at a time, has a long drop loo).

- Fishing - on a catch and release basis.
- Basic rods & reels supplied by camp. Fly fishing equipment to be supplied by guest if required.
How to Get there
ExpertBotswana can arrange flights to Botswana from Johannesburg or Cape Town into Maun or Kasane, where most safaris start and end. Transfers from Maun/Kasane are done by light aircraft into the camps. Inter-camp transfers are done by light aircraft.
Child Policy
Children over the age of 8 years are welcome.
Electricity
- Camp has 220v generator powered electricity run in kitchen and main areas when guests are not in camp.
- When guests return from daily activities, generators generally switched off (for peace in camp).
- Video battery can be charged. Hence bring spare battery, adaptor and charging unit.
- No facilities for hairdryers or electric shavers.
- 220v battery power (charged by the generator) is used for lighting and fans in each guest tent 24hrs/day.
Malaria
Malaria is found in the central, western and northern areas of Botswana.
