Camp Description
Nxai Pan Tented Camp offers luxury tents with twin bedded accommodation in spacious, insect proof Meru style tents, with bush-bucket shower/toilet en-suite. Bathrooms are permanently attached to the tents, are roofed and also insect proof. Your tent measures approximately 12ft x 16 ft (3m x 4m). The camp is set up prior to guests' arrival. Experienced camp staff is available all day to see to your every need and ensure your comfort at all times. Guests are not expected to participate in any camp duties, allowing for complete relaxation. Nxai Pan offers delicious cuisine prepared in traditional style.
Game Viewing
The area was declared a national park in 1992 and Nxai Pan was enlarged to an area of 2 578 square kilometres. Nxai pan is renowned for spectacular scenery unique to the area as well as a large springbok population and once the rains have started, gemsbok, elephant and zebra migrate to the region. At the same time zebra's come in their thousands to give birth to their young. Massive herds of giraffe can be seen with up to 30 in a group. These large herds of zebra, springbok and wildebeest attract many predators like lion, cheetah, jackal and both spotted and the elusive brown hyena, as well as the endangered wild dog and the secretive leopard. Guests will also be able to see elephant, buffalo, sable and gemsbok. There are large numbers of bat-eared foxes and raptors that prey on the rodents and reptiles. At times, Rhino have also been sighted. Also to be seen are the eland, greater kudu and red hartebeest. The birdlife is incredible, once the rains have started.
Wildlife Activities
Nxai Tented Camp offers guests a cultural experience and a chance to interact with the San Bushmen, spend time and live close to them. They will share their survival, cultural and spiritual knowledge with you on guided bush walks and game drives.
How to Get there
ExpertBotswana can arrange flights to Botswana from Johannesburg or Cape Town into Maun or Kasane, where most safaris start and end. Transfers from Maun/Kasane are done by light aircraft into the camps. Inter-camp transfers are done by light aircraft. Guests will fly into the camp's airstrip where they will be met by a guide and vehicle for their road transfer to the camp.
