Camp Description

The main lodge houses the dining area, bar and reception area. This structure was built into the existing landscape, under a heavy canopy of mature Jackalberry, Sausage and Rain trees. The main deck area is split-level and offers breathtaking views over the floodplain to the north.

The lower level of the deck houses the swimming pool.
The camp comprises of 12 luxury bush pavilions which sleeps a max of 24 guests.
Each pavillion boasts a spacious seating area and private game viewing deck with hammock.
En-suite facilities include an indoor and outdoor shower.

Game Viewing

The camp is situated on the northwestern tip of Chief's Island, in what is termed seasonal delta. The area is therefore seasonally suffused with floodwaters. Generally, the floodwaters infiltrate the area in June / July and remain for a period of 4 to 5 months. Game viewing apart from its predators, the area is also renowned for its large concentrations of plains-game, elephant and buffalo. Both white & black rhino were introduced in 2001 and 2003 respectively.

The rainy season, late December to early March, is favourable for the viewing of newborn mammals, summer flowers and the migration of rare birds. Predator viewing during this time remains quite good.

The dry season runs from late March to early December. The drier months between June and November are considered to be peak game-viewing months.

Wildlife Activities

Game-drives are conducted in custom built open 4 X 4 vehicles, which offer individual seating.
Game drives are conducted early morning and late afternoon or as otherwise requested (subject to availability).

How to Get there
