Camp Description
Kwando Lagoon Camp accommodates only 12 guests in 6 twin bedded luxury safari-style tents. Each tent looks out over the water and has private en-suite facilities, including 24 hour hot and cold running water, open-air showers, flush toilets and modern amenities.
The shady, treed environment of the camp hosts a great variety of birds and squirrels that visit daily. A family of hippo and an elephant or three are regularly sighted from the tents. This contributes to the relaxed calm that prevails at Lagoon.
Game Viewing
The Kwando Wildlife Reserve consists of 232 000 hectares of prime African bushveld that offers incredible game viewing. Kwando Lagoon Camp is known as one of the best wild dog viewing destinations in Africa. The area is home to more Elephant than the entire country of South Africa. Guests can also expect to see Impala, Kudu, Zebra, Wildebeest, Tsessebe, Giraffe, Sitatunga, Sable, Roan, Buffalo, Bushbuck and the smaller antelope. Kwando also offers guests the opportunity to see Red Lechwe, Waterbuck, Warthog and the shy Sitatunga Antelope. The major predators such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog and Hyena are resident and regularly sighted. The reed and papyrus swamps are ideal for the numerous and diverse species of birds. Night drives provide the opportunity to see the nocturnal species such as Civet, Large and Small-spotted Genet, Honey Badger, and Spring Hare. Nocturnal birding, especially Owls can also be found here.

How to Get there
ExpertBotswana can arrange flights to Botswana from Johannesburg or Cape Town into Maun or Kasane, where most safaris start and end. Transfers from Maun/Kasane are done by light aircraft into the camps Inter-camp transfers are done by light aircraft, road, boat or mekoro.
Child Policy
Children between 8 - 12 years old are welcomed at full rate, all year round but must book a private vehicle or use the family safaris guides. Younger children are accepted with exclusive camp bookings. This service is subject to availability at the time of booking.
Electricity
- The camps do not have mains electricity.
- General lighting is therefore from paraffin oil lamps.
- Each tent is provided with a battery powered reading lamp in the evening.
- Remember to turn this light off when not in the tent or else it will attract insects into the tent.
- This light should provide a few hours of light.
- There is a flashlight provided for each tent.
Malaria
Malaria is found in the central, western and northern areas of Botswana.
