Camp Description

Deception Valley Lodge consists of a main area including a dining room, lounge and bar area. From the deck you can view wildlife at the nearby water hole. A curio shop and small library forms part of the main complex. The lodge has an ethnic African theme and was build to blend into the surrounding bush offering a relaxed atmosphere. A swimming pool is available situated close to the main complex. Delicious dinners are enjoyed in the boma while guests can enjoy star- gazing across a clear night sky. The units stand separately; built on stilts connected with the main lodge by wooden walkways. Six of the eight chalets consist of luxury twin bedded rooms with en-suite Victorian style bathrooms, an outside shower and a private spacious lounge. There is also a chalet with 2 inter-leading rooms for families. For your convenience a hairdryer, shaving plugs and bathrobe is standard. All units are fitted with ceiling fans and mosquito nets. A private mini-bar will ensure your comfort during an afternoon siesta.

Game Viewing

Guests can expect to see the rare Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, kudu and if lucky, the elusive brown hyena. The night drives in particular will reveal a world of interesting nocturnal species. Deception Valley is a bird watcher's paradise. Guests can enjoy the amazing Kalahari Sunsets while having sun-downers on safaris or walks.

Wildlife Activities

A cultural experience with San Bushmen is an experience that will never fade. Activities include Games drives in open 4X4 vehicles, night drives to explore the nocturnal species as well as Bird watching, over 200 species, available from the deck at the main lodge or in a hide at one of the water holes, Nature walks with experienced guides, guided walks with the Bushmen to explore their culture, survival and hunting skills and their extraordinary knowledge of the veldt and animal life. How to Get there

ExpertBotswana can arrange scheduled flights to Botswana from Johannesburg or Cape Town into Maun or Kasane, where most safaris start and end. Transfers from Maun/Kasane are done by light aircraft into the camp. Inter-camp transfers are done by light aircraft. Deception Valley Lodge is also accessible by road, however a 4x4 vehicle will be required.
